Michael Prins (Streefkerk, December 14, 1985) is a Dutch singer-songwriter. He broke through at the end of July 2013 when he won the second season of the television program De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland. He beat one of the crowd favorites Maaike Ouboter in the final.
Prins grew up in Streefkerk and lives in Haarlem. For the first time he was on stage at Paddy Murphy's Irish pub in Rotterdam, and he also played for four years every Thursday evening in the Rotterdam café Hemingway.

Prins participated in 2013 in the second season of The best singer-songwriter in the Netherlands. His audition with the song Close to you, immediately hit the sensitive string with jury member Eric Corton. The song was available as a download immediately after the broadcast at the end of May, after which it reached the download charts within a few days. He grew to become one of the favorites during the season and finally won the final in the Paard van Troje in The Hague on 29 July. Prince succeeded Douwe Bob, who in 2012 could call himself the best singer-songwriter.
His first album, which is called Rivertown Fairytales, was presented on Wednesday 23 October 2013 in Het Patronaat in Haarlem. In 2016 he is guest artist at the national commemoration concert Bridge to Liberation Experience.
