Some of her fans may not like it when Ute Lemper takes a detour from the Weimar era, but most know that it's always worth it to follow her adventurous, creative spirit. 'Between Yesterday and Tomorrow' is a collection of Lemper's own songs, written over a four-year period and exquisitely performed and produced. Like the songs by other composers for which she's known, each of Lemper's songs is a story. Some, such as 'The Greatest Ride' and the haunting 'Stranger Friend,' focus on alienation and longing; others, such as 'Ghosts of Berlin' and 'Nevada,' look at man's sadly insatiable need to destroy his own world. Some of the songs grab you right away and others grow on you.
